Everything you need to know about Lash Lifts

 What is a Lash Lift?

Similar to the process for eyebrow lamination, a lash lift is when you perm your eyelashes to have a more curled appearance.

How does a Lash Lift work?

When we perm eyelashes, we are relaxing and resetting the disulfide bonds in the hair. Disulfide bonds are structural proteins that determine whether our hair pattern is straight, wavy or curly. When you place the eyelashes on a special curling rod, relax the disulfide bonds and then reset the disulfide bonds, you get curled eyelashes that last 6 to 8 weeks.

What are the benefits of a Lash Lift?

Lash lifts are great for curling the eyelashes up, opening the eyes, giving the illusion of longer, darker lashes and are a great alternative to eyelash extensions.

Is getting a Lash Lift safe for eyes and eyelashes?

Lash lifts are very safe for the eyes and eyelashes when done appropriately. When done professionally, you can assure no risk of overprocessing which can cause burns, blisters and fall out of the hair. Only getting a lash lift every 8 weeks can also lessen the risk of thinning or weakening the eyelashes.

Should you get a Lash Lift?

If you have eyelashes that are completely straight, covering your eyes or never hold a curl and you want more of a curl to them; YES you should get a lash lift. However, if you have weakened, thin eyelashes, eyelashes that are already naturally curly or sensitive eyes, you should not get a lash lift.

How do you prepare for a Lash Lift?

If you decide to get your eyelashes lifted, you'll want to make sure to prepare. The day of your appointment, you should avoid anything that will cause your eyes to twitch or flutter like caffeine or nicotine. It's also best to show up with completely clean eyes and eyelashes devoid of any makeup or skin care product. That's it!
