Everything you need to know about Eyebrow Lamination

 What is Eyebrow Lamination?

Eyebrow Lamination is the process of perming eyebrow hairs to lay straight up. This gives the brows a fuller, fluffier appearance.

What is Perming?

Perming is the process of relaxing and then resetting disulfide bonds in the hair. Disulfide bonds are structural proteins that determine whether our hair pattern is straight, wavy or curly. The most common form of perming is when someone with straight hair perms their hair to be curly. However, perming can also be used in the opposite way to make curly hair straight.

How does Eyebrow Lamination work?

The hair on our eyebrows is thick, course and lays either up, down or at an angle. When we perm eyebrow hairs, we are usually perming hair that lays down or at an angle so that it lays up instead. Perming eyebrow hairs up creates a fuller looking eyebrow. If you want an even fuller look, you can also tint the hair to fill in any holes that the eyebrow lamination didn't cover.

Should you get Eyebrow Lamination done?
If you have thin uncooperative brows and you want them to look thicker and more uniform, YES you should get eyebrow lamination done! However, if you have sensitive eyes, taking any medications that thin the skin or you already have very thick eyebrows, you should not get eyebrow lamination done.

How long does an Eyebrow Lamination last?
The results from your eyebrow lamination will last between 6 and 8 weeks. Brushing your eyebrows in their desired position when necessary and making sure to avoid oil based products will make the results last the longest. As with any perm, you want to make sure to avoid getting the hair wet for at least 24 hours to allow the disulfide bonds to fully set in place.

How do you prepare for an Eyebrow Lamination?
To prepare for your eyebrow lamination you will want to stop using any Retinol/RetinA, AHA/BHA products at least three days before your appointment. If you've had eyebrow lamination, tinting or henna done in the last four weeks, you will want to wait an extra two weeks to avoid irritating the skin around the area and any excessive damage to the hair. You will also want to mentally prepare to have a fuller look. When you're used to what your eyebrows look like naturally, it can be a little jarring to see them thicker and fuller after the lamination.
